Web version of the NIST 17 Glycan MS/MS Library

The NIST 17 Glycan MS/MS Library contains 16,421 positive and negative ion spectra of 209 glycans (extracted from the NIST 17 Tandem Library). Spectra can be viewed using the MS Search software, downloaded separately.

After downloading: Unzip the file and launch nistms.exe. Once inside MS Search, click on the Names tab at the bottom. From there you can browse through the glycan spectra.

1. If NIST MS Search is running on the computer, close it. Copy ZIP files to a preferred directory.
2. Extract the downloaded ZIP files from Windows Explorer.
3. Move the Glycan MS/MS library folder into the Library folder of MS Search.
4. Run nistms.exe.
5. Once inside MS Search, click on Options, then Library Search Options. Go to the Libraries tab, highlight “nist_msms_glycans” in Available Libs and then click »Add». This will select the glycan library for Spectrum search. Add the library to Structure search by selecting “Structure search” at the bottom, highlighting “nist_msms_glycans” in Available Libs and then clicking »Add».
6. To browse the spectra: click on the Names tab at the bottom. From there you can browse through the glycan spectra.

The MS search program is a 32-bit Unicode application and thus requires Windows NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Vista, or Windows 7, 8, 8.1.

You may reproduce and distribute an unlimited number of copies of the Library; provided that each copy shall be a true and complete copy of the Library, and shall be accompanied by a copy of this License. Copies of the Library may be distributed as a standalone product or included with your own product.
• The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) uses its best efforts to deliver a high-quality copy of the Database and to verify that the data contained therein have been selected based on sound scientific judgment.
